Those considering joining the Catholic Church or adult Catholics wanting to complete their Sacraments of Initiation (First Eucharist/Confirmation) are invited to participate in a process called RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults). Through weekly meetings and occasional rites at Mass, participants are able to learn more about the Catholic Faith, grow in their relationship with Christ, and discern God's will in their lives.

Who should attend the classes?
RCIA is for adults who want to be baptized, baptized Christians of other faith traditions who are interested in learning more about the Catholic faith or becoming Catholic, and baptized Catholics who have not yet received their first Communion or Confirmation.

What if I'm not sure if I want to become Catholic?
Come to classes anyway. Part of the whole process is discernment, discovering where God is leading you.

Do I need to become Catholic to marry a Catholic?
No. It is common for people to consider joining the faith of their future spouse, but it is not a requirement for marriage in the Catholic Church. Of course, you are absolutely welcome to come and see what the Catholic Church teaches and why in our classes or by meeting with our Campus Minister or a priest.

Do I have to be a student at TAMUCC to attend?
No. While the classes are geared toward college students, other people are welcome to attend with us

What if I want to receive my Sacraments at my home parish with my family?
Because students are often studying far from home, we at the Newman Center can work with your home parish so that you can receive your Sacraments there.
